Bite marks

Hedgehog chewcard by Abby Boffa 4sq

Hedgehog bite marks on a chewcard.

Note the small oval marks made by the sharp canine teeth, which are on the animal's upper jaw. This was one of a number of chewcards put out for a pest control project in Mapua that showed similar results. Stoats were at first suspected but then ruled out because stoats usually puncture right through the plastic and make very round-shaped puncture holes compared to the more irregular oval hedgehog marks.
