If you find ferret footprints then usually all, or part, of the centre pad plus three to five of the toe pads can be seen. The forefoot of a ferret is 35mm long by 35mm wide and the hindfoot is 50mm long and 35mm wide. Ferret footprints can be mistaken for stoat footprints, but ferret footprints will often be larger. Ferret footprints in tracking tunnels can be a bit messy because the small space makes it more difficult for them to move around.
