Rabbit (European)

Rabbit droppings 4 500x500

Rabbit and hare droppings.

Note differences in colour and texture between rabbit (bottom) and hare (top) droppings.

  • Top row: Older hare pellets, including those that have retained their shape and size, but faded to a grey colour, through to very old pellets that have abraded and reduced in size.
  • Second row: Typical fresh adult hare pellets.
  • Third row: Typical fresh rabbit pellets - note the range of sizes, but the consistent shape and dark colour.
  • Fourth row: Larger pellets from a rabbit ‘buck heap’.
